Description

The Camarillo Ranch Foundation is working to make the Camarillo Ranch a prominent Ventura County venue for community events, school field trips, weddings, private parties, and film shoots. All revenue earned from event rentals benefits the maintenance and preservation of this historic property.

Mission

To preserve, restore, operate, and maintain the Camarillo Ranch as an historic site in partnership with our public and private sectors, on a self-sustaining basis; to foster its place in the rich history of California; to transform it into a focal point of the community for education, enrichment, and enjoyment; and to exhibit our diverse history and culture.

History

Originally, Camarillo Ranch was an approximately 10,000 acre Mexican land grant created in 1837, patented to Gabriel Ruiz in 1866, then purchased by Juan Camarillo in 1875. His son Adolfo built the Queen Anne Victorian home in 1892. Later the barn and stables were added to support the agricultural work and house the renowned Camarillo White Horses.

Today the Camarillo Ranch is owned by the City of Camarillo and operated by the non-profit organization, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation. The 1892 Queen Anne Victorian style Camarillo Ranch House operates as a House Museum, which features rotating exhibits, along with historic home and school tours. The Foundation sponsors annual community events throughout the year, which educate the public about the Ranch?s rich history. The Camarillo Ranch is also a highly sought after wedding and special events venue, hosting over 150 private and public events throughout the year.
