Description

The museum occupies almost 14,000 sq.ft. in the former Carnegie Library, and features many displays including: Revolutionary War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, and current conflicts, with special displays for D-Day, Communications, Trench Art, Medal of Honor, and many many more.

The Vermilion County War Museum opened on Veteran's Day, 1999. We continue to have visitors every day and new artifacts are coming in constantly.

History

Opened November 11, 1999. Resides in old Carnegie Library building.

Artifact Collections
Complete U.S. military history.

The museum covers every military conflict our country has been involved in; from the Revolutionary War up to current conflicts. Special permanent exhibits include: Medal of Honor, POW/MIA, Merchant Marines and Navy Armed Guard, D-Day, War in the Pacific, Trench Art, and many more.

Research Collections

Extensive library and document collection.

Personal diaries. Photo albums. Training manuals.
Programs

Various educational programs are available to all age groups.

Facilities

Small lecture hall with video projector, screen, p/a system, wireless internet.
