Martin's Gen'L Store is owned and operated by the Historic Millburn Community Association, Incorporated, on an all-volunteer and not-for-profit basis.

Our mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance Millburn, which is part of the Village of Old Mill Creek, Illinois. Millburn was settled in the late 1830s by number of Scottish settlers, many of whom were abolitionists. Millburn played a role in the Underground Railroad.

The HMCA, Inc. is working on the restoration of the Millburn Cemetery Fence and funds our local plaque program. We also operate a museum and website to preserve the history of the area.

The Millburn Historic District has 18 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

We, as a people, preserve our history in order to communicate its lessons for the benefit of both present and future generations. The City of Zion has a most unique heritage—one that is worth preserving. An important part of that heritage is Shiloh House. The Zion Historical Society is charged with maintaining Shiloh House, a monument to Zion’s heritage, in honor of those who came before us and for the benefit of those who will carry us into the future.
