Founded in 1980, the Elmbrook Historical Society currently has over 200 members who care deeply about preserving the history of Brookfield and Elm Grove and its historic buildings. The Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum is its main project.

Lowell Damon House

The Lowell Damon House, completed in 1847, is Wauwatosa, Wisconsin's oldest home and a classic example of colonial architecture. The rear five rooms were built in 1844 for Oliver Damon, who migrated to the Wisconsin Territoy from New Hampshire. In 1846, Oliver's son Lowell constructed the handsome front of the home. Guided tours for groups are available by appointment.

The year 2010 will offer visitors dynamic special exhibits and activities for kids and adults. Our summer exhibit, “Adventure Dinosaur!” will feature a prehistoric park, with more than 25 dinosaurs – lurking, moving and rumbling in their tropical outdoor habitat. The exhibit runs May 29 – September 6, and is $2.50 per person after regular Zoo admission.
